Recommendations – Prom makeup
May 8, 2018
Some of the best high school memories come from Prom night. But as a student, it can be hard to look your best with a limited amount of time. Don’t worry, here is a list of the best beauty products we recommend that are guaranteed to make you shine.
Primer: bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer
This primer is the perfect pick for anyone who struggles with oily or dry skin! It manages to control oiliness while simultaneously ensuring that any dry areas will not be emphasized by the foundation. It hides any pores or texture and makes your skin super soft and smooth. This primer makes any makeup that you put on top wear really well, so you can spend the whole night dancing and have fun without worrying that your makeup will smear off! Be sure to apply this with your fingers in your T-zone, and rub it in really well!
Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless
One of the best foundations I have ever tried is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless. You can pretty much find this at any drugstore, and it is really inexpensive and comes in over 40 shades. This foundation also comes in a more natural finish (called the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy+Smooth), but the Matte+Poreless works for both dry and oily skin. It is not totally matte, not to point where your face looks like there’s no dimension to it. This foundation sits on the skin beautifully and looks like you aren’t wearing any makeup at all. To top it all off, it’s extremely long-wearing, meaning it will last all night long! This foundation can be easily applied with a sponge or a foundation brush. Just make sure you take the time to blend it in so that you won’t look streaky!
Concealer: L.A. Girl Pro Concealer
This concealer is absolutely amazing. The coverage manages to hide any dark areas or breakouts while never caking. Also, it is perfect to use for cream contour, so you can sculpt your face even more before adding a powder contour. It is also affordable — it only costs five dollars. It comes in a variety of shades and can even color correct. It is creamy, lightweight and manages to cover up anything you want to hide!
Powder: Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Baking Powder
Even though this powder is advertised as a baking powder, it is perfect for the entire face. This powder sets any foundation beautifully, and it’s best for setting your concealer. Since it is a loose powder, it can get a little messy if you aren’t careful. If used correctly, it melts into your skins and makes your foundation last forever. Because it is a banana powder, this won’t give you flashback in pictures, and won’t change the color of your foundation or concealer.
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer
This is perfect for both bronzing your skin and contouring your cheekbones. Even though it is a matte bronzer, it brings life and color back into your skin without making your face look too flat. It’s perfect for a multitude of skin tones, and if you are on the fairer side, Benefit recently released “Hoola Lite,” which is essentially the same undertone of the bronzer in a lighter shade.
Highlighter: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors
Out of all the highlighters I’ve ever tried (and trust me, there have been a LOT), this is one of the few that manages to give you a true glow-from-within. It’s easily buildable from a light sheen to a full-on glow, and there’s no chunky glitter or shimmer in it. It is super fine and does not accentuate any pores or texture you might have.
Eyeshadow Palette: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette
Even though this palette is priced at $42, it is perfect for creating a bunch of different eye looks. Whether you want something more gold or rosy, this palette is perfect for you! It’s perfectly balanced with the number of matte and shimmery eyeshadows, all of which are really pigmented and blend really easily. It is perfect for anyone who is new at makeup because the eyeshadow is really easy to use. The matte eyeshadows require close to no blending, and the shimmery shadows are eye-catching and won’t fade throughout the night!
Mascara: L’oreal Lash Paradise
This mascara is very well known for being a dupe to a higher end mascara, and it’s amazing at lengthening your lashes and giving them volume without making them too clumpy!
