Meet Fresh has closed its Cupertino location at Main Street after 10 years of operation. The Taiwanese dessert chain announced its final day in Cupertino on March 27, 2026, through social media. Though it did not provide details regarding the reason for closure, the company encouraged customers to visit a nearby location in Santa Clara.
According to former staff, the lack of official oversight at the Cupertino location led to operational flaws that continued leading up to closure.
“The entire store is run by the workers alone, which made everything messy, and everyone was kinda slacking on the job,” a former employee said. “After my regional manager told us that we were closing, we stopped receiving shipments, so we were always out of items.”
The announcement for the staff’s termination of employment came abruptly.
“We were given a very PR kinda statement in our work group chat that we were closing,” the employee said. “They told us around three weeks before we actually closed.”
Despite the closure of the Cupertino location, employees were given an option to transfer to a nearby location rather than quit the job completely. Several employees ultimately chose to transfer due to the difficulty of finding a part-time job at this time of year.
While the system of management was not ideal, bonds between employees remained a strong highlight of the job.
“I loved working with most of my co-workers. The environment and energy is always a vibe,” the former employee said. “I’m still in touch and hang out with a lot of them even after we’ve closed.”
While one cause for the closure cannot be identified, the surge of Asian dessert shops at Main Street is a major source of competition and a potential threat to open businesses. Since 2022, competitors such as HeyTea, NaiSnow and Bonbon Matcha have opened at Main Street.
Though it is now closed, many remember Meet Fresh as an essential dessert spot and are likely to visit nearby locations.
